SUMMARY:National Lung Cancer Screening Day
DESCRIPTION:The American College of Radiology invites your facility to participate in National Lung Cancer Screening Day\, Saturday\, Nov. 9\, by opening your facility for screening. The American Cancer Society National Lung Cancer Roundtable\, ACR®\, Radiology Health Equity Coalition and Go2 for Lung Cancer have partnered again for this annual event to increase screening access for people who cannot take time off during the week to get screened. \nLung cancer is one of the deadliest forms of cancer and is estimated to claim the lives of over 125\,070 Americans this year. Did you know that even though survival rates can be improved significantly by screening\, only a small percentage of eligible individuals get screened for lung cancer? \nThis is where you can help! Sign up to have your facility participate and then share the message with your network to get more people screened\, help reduce disparities and create more lung cancer survivors. \nShare the hashtags\, #LCSDay2024\, #LCSM\, #LungCancer and #LCAM\, and use our link lungcancerscreeningday.org to encourage others to learn more about National Lung Cancer Screening Day and the importance of early detection. \nLet’s work together to increase lung cancer screening and save lives.

SUMMARY:Addressing Financial Toxicity in Cancer Care: The Role of Tumor Boards
DESCRIPTION:Addressing Financial Toxicity in Cancer Care: The Role of Tumor Boards \nCancer treatment often involves not just physical and emotional challenges but significant financial burdens for patients and their families. Financial toxicity—the strain of high medical costs and out-of-pocket expenses—can directly impact a patient’s ability to adhere to treatment plans\, leading to worse outcomes. \nPresenter: Greg Knight\, MD | Atrium Health Levine Cancer Center (Charlotte\, NC) \nBio: Dr. Knight is a clinical leukemia and bone marrow transplant physician at Atrium Health Levine Cancer in Charlotte\, NC\, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He is an experienced health services researcher with a focus on health equity and the financial toxicity of cancer care. Notably\, he is the cofounder and currently serves as the Chair of the Atrium Health Levine Cancer Financial Toxicity Tumor Board. His primary research centers on financial toxicity in patients (financial hardship due to the cost of cancer treatment) and on developing interventional models to help address this issue. He is chair of the Financial Toxicity Tumor Board at Levine Cancer Institute\, which provides support to patients.
