Elizabeth Rohan, PhD, MSW from CDC
Monday, May 13, 2019
12 PM – 1 PM (CST)
Oncology professionals and organizations around the world have come to realize the diagnosis and treatment of cancer can evoke significant levels of distress for cancer patients and their families. Thus, psychosocial distress screening is increasingly becoming a first step in identifying those with high needs as a part of quality cancer care and treatment. The goal of screening is to identify those with distress as early as possible and to intervene quickly. This presentation will review the basics of distress screening, highlight some of the realities of implementation in oncology settings based on current research, and discuss the challenges and opportunities of implementing distress screening in the oncology setting.
